- The most common wrist sprain is semilunar-pyramidal instability as a result of falling forwards onto the palm of the hand.
- The thumb can be sprained due to a forced abduction movement or as a result of trapeziometacarpal arthritis.
- Carpal tunnel syndrome is related to compression of the wrist’s median nerve. The annual incidence varies from 1 to 3 cases per 1000 subjects and the prevalence is 3 to 5 cases per 100 people. Its frequency peaks between the ages of 45 and 60.
